Instruction Opportunities
Each student is encouraged to study with a private teacher who is a specialist on that student's instrument. Private teachers devote the entire lesson addressing the unique technical challenges of each instrument, and training in literature written specifically for that instrument. The individual achiement that results from private instruction cannot be duplicated in an ensemble setting.
As a student becomes more proficient, the love of music increases. A student who attains a high level of musical achievement in high school often continues to play a musical instrument in college and in adult life. A student who participates in private instruction demonstrates a serious commitment to music . . . This will be considered when selecting students for our most advanced groups, and in filling student leadership positions.
Our most successful students regularly take private lessons. A current list of private instructors will be on file in the office. Any student wishing a private teacher recommendation to see the teachers.
A few teachers have offered to display their contact information. This list is for reference only. SMBPA does not endorse or sponsor these teachers.
